ARRIVAL INFORMATION

GETTING TO THE CONFERENCE AREA

From the airport

Taxi

A trip by taxi from the Nice airport to Saint-Jean Cap Ferrat takes only about 20 to 30 mn but costs around 300 FF (plus a 10% gratuity). Given the large expected scatter in arrival times it is not practical to organize collective transportation. The solution is to have up to four persons sharing a taxi (the charge for 4 persons may be higher than for 3). Information about arrival times, phones and emails of colleagues is available on the web. It is, of course, your responsibility to contact your colleagues to make appointments.

Note that flights from France arrive mostly at terminal 2 and flights from abroad at terminal 1 (with a few Air France Schengen flights arriving at terminal 2). The terminals are slightly less than 1km apart with a shuttle bus every 10 mn. The most convenient meeting places in each terminal are the bars at ground-level (arrival), located near the middle of terminal 1 and on the far right in terminal 2. Ask the taxi driver to stop first at the Villefranche hotels, then at the Beaulieu hotels and finally at the Saint-Jean hotels. They are minutes apart by car.

Bus (+train)

Take a bus from any terminal to the central bus station (gare routière). From there there are frequent busses to Villefranche and Beaulieu; for Saint Jean you may have to wait longer. Alternatively, you can take a bus from terminal 1 to the central railway station (gare centrale SNCF). From there trains reach Beaulieu in about 10' and leave at intervals of about 30' to 60' depending on the hour of the day. They are headed for Vintimille and/or Italy. Beaulieu is the first or third stop depending on the train.

Arrival by train

If you arrive by train, the best station is Beaulieu, about 8 km from the Nice central station (going east).

Arrival by car (see map 1)

If you arrive from the West exit the motorway A8 at the first Nice exit (Promenade des Anglais and airport). Follow the road along the sea all the way to the Nice harbor. From there follow the "basse corniche" to Villefranche and Beaulieu (maps 2, 3 and 4). For Saint Jean, turn right at Pont Saint Jean onto Denis Semeria just before entering Beaulieu (map 3). If you arrive from the East (Italy), exit the motorway A8 at Roquebrune-Monaco; at Hotel Vista Palace take road going down on the right towards Cap d'Ail; at the next T junction, right towards Cap d'Ail and Nice on "moyenne corniche"; stay on this road for about 10km, pass the village of Eze, after about 3km turn left (road descending) where is signposted "Beaulieu - Saint Jean-Cap Ferrat"; then follow the signs and refer to maps 3, 4 and 6.

FINAL REGISTRATION, PAYMENT AND SPECIAL CERTIFICATES

Final registration at the Médiathèque (See "CONFERENCE VENUE" and "GETTING TO THE MÉDIATHÈQUE") is open on Monday June 29 from 17:00 to 20:00. At the same time there will be a "welcome wine" in the exhibition hall that is above the Médiathèque. You can also register on Tuesday June 30 from 8:00 to 8:55 (the schedule for the tourist trains takes this into account for Tuesday). You are reminded that if you have opted for paying at the registration, there is a 10% surcharge (2000 F for EUROMECH/ERCOFTAC members and 2200 F otherwise). Payment is in French Francs (the exchange office at location B on map 6, next to the Médiathèque will be open when needed).

If you need any special certificate other than these, please send us a message to

(subject "certificate") and describe your need (if possible give us the proposed wording of the certificate).
